Found My Viking, Dropped My Anchor: Archipelago Resort Rosala

There are moments in life, when everything changes. How and where your want to turn old and with whom.  Even from a far, a fishing village loomed on the shore; Rosala a former land of the Vikings. A Harbor where your soul finds peace and gaze meets a true fairy tale.

Where the Voyage Ends and the Story Begins: Anchored in RosalaLife is a journey and our suitcases can be packed with memories leaving room for the unexpected. Fill your life with adventures, stories to tell.

This is a start of journey in and about Rosala; Rosala Saga – hope you will enjoy it and be part of it.

Rosala is an idyllic seaside village in the Kimitoön archipelago of Southwest Finland, renowned for its deep historical roots and authentic archipelago atmosphere. While originally a traditional fishing village characterized by its red waterfront storehouses, it has also a small exclusive resort Archipelago Resort Rosala and the only permanent Viking village in Finland.

With approximately 140 permanent residents Rosala can be reach with your own car! Kasnäs is the main gateway to the Rosala-Hitis archipelago. Its about 2,5 hour drive from Helsinki (approx. 200 km) and 1.5 hours from Turku (approx. 100 km). From the Kasnäs ferry pier, take the free of charge car ferry M/S Aurora to Rosala island.

More Than a Stay, It’s a Destination – Archipelago Resort Rosala.

Sunset sessions at Fisherman’s Village is one of the most beautiful moments of the day. Its proof that every day can end with a beautiful way.

You can also visit us with even a bigger boat.

Fishing is hope, fishing is a state of mind. Fishing is a hard job and a good job, it’s a rich man’s job and a poor man’s job, it’s a happy job and a sad job. But most of all it’s been the root of Rosala.

At Archipelago Resort Rosala in Villa Norbyggas we have 2 apartments with kitchen, 2 double rooms and one suite with 2 rooms; Zebra in archipelago.  We can accommodate up to 16 guests, but solo travelers are always just as welcome.

Magic begins at the breakfast table;  eggs florentine and gluten free banana pancakes.

There are estimated to be over 3 million saunas in Finland, serving a population of approximately 5.5 million people. This means there is roughly one sauna for every two people.

It can be an experience you will not forget with a view to the archipelago and heated with wood. A palju is a traditional Finnish wood-fired hot tub, usually made of wood and used outdoors. These barrels are heated by a wood-burning stove to create a warm, tranquil bathing experience—sometimes called a ”human soup”. They are popular for year-round use, also in winter!

In Finland this is 3 words: sipping, singing, and shelling. The red gold of the north is served and summer’s grand finale: The Crayfish Feast. And it taste the best at an old fisherman’s fishing cottage.

Feel free like a bird, happily ever after like in a fairy tale. In Rosala – you are your own fairy tale as there is a Viking in every duck.

Home is where the anchor drops.
