Is golf like sex?

It’s been said that golf and sex are the only 2 things one can enjoy, without being good at them.

Well, I know that in golf this is true.. 😉

Black Mountain – it’s the name of the best golf course in Thailand. I’m a Finn and we hear often said; Swedes do it better.. -this time its actually even true.

I’m a new golfer. I’m 47 years old and I think its pretty good age to start playing golf.

When travelling, golf is actually pretty expensive sport, but I noticed that the more hits one does, every hit is actually cheaper. My biggest problem on the court was probably water.. luckily my caddie saved most of my balls. It takes a lot of balls to play like I do.

In Thailand even a new golfer like me, has a caddie. I played my fifth round and must say that it was like being on-course training at the same time. Great teaching with what to hit, when to hit, where to hit and how to hit.

I start to reach 200 m with my tie hits, got my first birdie put and my first bogey.  When you get even one good hit on a hole, it makes it easier to forget all the bad ones.

Swedes got style; Black Mountain is well dressed from tip to toe.

The high differences give a fantastic visual experience and one gets the possibility to hit long drives on many holes. Anywhere you turn your head and look, its picture perfect.

Golf has its own fashion. And If I don’t really play like a pro, In CHERVO golfwear, I at least feel like one.

In golf there are also many new words to learn and bad to swallow..

Starting for the hits: 1.1 Hole in one; 1.2 Albatross; 1.3 Eagle; 1.4 Birdie; 1.5 Par, Par-3, Par-4, Par-5; 1.6 Bogey; 1.7 double bogey.

In Tennis I use also the word close enough – in golf – there is no close enough, you either hit the ball to the hole or not. So, its not that great to hear its your hit.. again.

Bunker is the whole with sand, Dogleg is the letter L shape of a golf fairway, Fore green is the area where the grass is longer, and green is the area around the whole where the grass is 2-4mm long. Out of bounds – is outside the court and one can’t play from there.

Fore – is when you hit the ball out and almost hit other people with it. I know its a call for safety, but kind of embarrassing when 5 people around you, scream out loud that your hit really sucked.

There did come a moment, that I was thinking; that here we are, 3 adults playing golf pretty seriously, 3 caddies helping us with it. So all together 6 people trying to get balls to holes in the ground and even paying and getting paid for it. But my next thought was, why not, what a wonderful day and way to spend together.

“Golf is a game that is played on a five-inch course – the distance between your ears. ” -Bobby Jones

You could hear Swedish a lot among the players at the Black Mountain clubhouse. I played with a Swede and a Finn, so in our table one could hear a fluently spoken trilingual mix.

First AFTER playing golf all day in the heat, I actually realized that I REALLY like it a lot.. 😉

After using Black Mountains beautiful changing facilities and spa we ended our tour having an early dinner at the clubhouse and continued with drinks by the bar. What a great day from morning till night. <3

“I get to play golf for a living. What more can you ask for, getting paid for doing what you love.” -Tiger Woods

“Golf is the closest game to the game we call life. You get bad breaks from good shots; you get good breaks from bad shots–but you have to play the ball where it lies.” -Bobby Jones
